Planes, Cranes and Sea series debuted at the Greenroom Festival in Yokohama, Japan on May 2018. It centers around the friendship of the two surfers - Crane and Plane, their beginning til they both learn to move onto their next wave. No hard feelings. Some unfolded, some folded. Just remember the good memories until they meet again!
In the Element 2 (2018) series stems from its first series back in 2014 which expresses our love for our playground found in another element, the ocean. The second series, which opened in April 2018 focuses on diatoms - phytoplankton that float the surfaces of many waters, contribute significantly to our existence; they are inhabitants of such foreign, yet very innate element, our playground, our birthplace, the ocean. This series focuses on diatoms being the origin of all lifeforms - perhaps say hi to them when you’re in the water catching your next wave!
New pieces from the show, "Aloha Vol.7"; art exhibit from the Greenroom Hawaii which opened on December 9th 2016 - January 9th 2017
THE BODY FARM is a series that features parts and aspects of our human body; spine, heart, gut flora, white blood cell, DNA and such. It was a two-man exhibition held in Jan 2015 with Eric West at The ARTS at Marks Garage.
The FISHIES series, a 15 wood panel installation hanged from the ceiling and displayed on the brick walls NEXTDOOR in Chinatown, Honolulu. Had a little fascination with the affluent and nonchalant lifestyle of the water wanderers in 2013.
A quirky twist to a typical Valentine's Day. I heart you. No, literally. The moment she takes your heart away, or was it breath? Oh well.
The Carnival series is about finding your own balloon. Though this balloon is only a metaphor. May it be that cup of coffee you must always have every morning, a kiss goodnight from loved ones before you drift away, the wave beneath your feet, the voice on the other end of the telephone, a smile on your child's face after a long long day. Your dream. Your conviction and your pride. Anything that you can claim as yours, and that makes you YOU. Have you found your own balloon yet?
The wind flowing through your hair as you walk to the nose, that beautifully bizarre feeling when you look up to the wave passing over you, the barrel feels like it's rain drops, change behind that bush you're practically naked! or asking whether the time has stopped and all you can hear is the sound of your heart beat and the gushing sound of water between your fingertips. Enjoy while it lasts. Enjoy being In the Element.
Have you ever surfed for a long time, watched the morning crowd leave and the afternoon one roll in, and eventually you tell yourself if you'll ever paddle in, maybe after this one. Oh nope. Maybe another set. You're getting thirsty, and possibly very hungry. Wish someone would just deliver a spam musubi to the line up? Rice and Surf series was inspired by such silly notion of a surfer.
