KAIWA
“KAIWA” explores the tension of miscommunication. You believe you're on the same page—or assume you are—but the inability to express that assumption leads to misalignment.
In Japanese, kaiwa (会話) means “conversation” or “dialogue.” This piece illustrates the fragility of communication through the placement of the ito-denwa—a thread phone, a simple childhood toy made of cups and string. In the work, the ito-denwa appears available but left untouched- symbolizing the breakdown in dialogue and questions the intention to connect.

THE SEASON
Much like fruit has its moment of ripeness, so do conversations, growth, and connection. There’s a right season for everything. The right person, the right opportunity—if met out of season—can be missed or misunderstood.
The Season series reflects on those moments of alignment, when we are ready to receive what life offers. May these works remind you to recognize and embrace what is meant for you—when it’s at its ripest.
